Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting 2025

Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting 2025

In June 2025, I attended the 74th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. It was the best conference I have attended.

The meeting stood out because it was designed around early-career researchers. It felt different from a traditional conference. Nobel laureates were approachable and young scientists had real opportunities to talk with them.

The organisers paid close attention to the social programme. The meals, excursions and evening events made the week memorable. Lindau felt less like a formal academic event and more like a rare chance to connect.

Before arriving, I wondered what it would be like to meet Nobel laureates. Would I feel intimidated? Would there be a barrier? Those concerns disappeared when I arrived. The laureates were approachable and spoke openly about their careers, setbacks and doubts.

The other young scientists made the meeting just as memorable. People were curious and generous with their time. Conversations about our work and experiences soon led to lasting friendships.

Some of those friendships have continued beyond the meeting. I have also had the chance to collaborate professionally with people I met in Lindau.

In November 2025, I attended the Falling Walls Conference with a ticket provided through the Lindau network. It felt like a reunion with familiar faces and a chance to reconnect with the Lindau community. The experience reminded me that the meeting can lead to friendships and collaborations that last well beyond the event.

Lindau reminded me that science is built not only on ideas and discoveries but also on people and the connections between them.
